Interest In Delta 8

Are you interested in Delta 8 THC and want to know if it could help you or someone you care about? I've spent the last few weeks reading about Delta 8 THC to learn more about this popular (but not new) cannabinoid and find the answers to all the important questions our customers need to know to make smart decisions. In this blog post, I'll talk about the history of Delta 8, what it is (you might be surprised, and why it's one of the hottest trends in the cannabis industry because it's legal.

What is THC-Delta-8?

Delta 8 THC is a natural part of the cannabis plant, just like the well-known but still illegal Delta 9. There are many ways in which the two chemicals are the same, but there are also some key differences in how they work and whether or not they are legal. From a chemical point of view, the only difference between Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC is where one carbon molecule is. Delta 8's molecular structure has a double bond on its eighth carbon atom, while Delta 9's double bond is on its ninth carbon atom.

As you can see in the picture of the two molecules, one of the carbon bonds moves from right to left. That is the only difference between Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC from a scientific point of view. If the two are so similar scientifically, why are people still going to jail for Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC? To put it simply, science has, for once, moved faster than politicians and big business.

Delta 8 THC is legal on the federal level because it comes from the "hemp" plant, not the "marijuana" plant, which is illegal. US policy has made it clear that hemp and marijuana are two different things, even though they both come from the same plant, the cannabis plant. Industrial hemp plants and all of their derivatives, isomers, and other forms are legal in the US. These legal hemp plants have less than 0.3 percent Delta 9 THC by dry weight. This is the plant's natural state after it has been picked and dried.

The federal government calls marijuana any cannabis plant that has more than 0.3 percent Delta 9 THC by dry weight. Marijuana is a federally controlled substance. Because Delta 8 is an isomer of the cannabis plant, it is easy to turn it into its pure form by using either CBD or Delta 9 THC. Since industrial hemp naturally has a lot of CBD, it makes sense that extractors would use it instead of the still-illegal "marijuana" plant. So, this is why Delta 8 is legal but Delta 9 is not.

Is Delta 8 THC fake?

Most people think that Delta 8 is a fake, but it's not. People also think that it was recently found, but it wasn't. Even people who are into cannabis will call it "fake weed" (I'll be the first to raise my hand on this one), but it is the real thing and not something that was made in a lab. It is an isomer of the cannabis plant that can be changed by moving just one carbon molecule.
